The challenge

As part of redesigning the user journey for creating ads, the team needed a multi‑functional uploader with a gallery and image editor in React, plus an upload module with tagging for the back office in pure JS. Building in‑house would take weeks and require ongoing maintenance. Assembling separate tools (uploader, editor, gallery) risked complexity and customization overhead. After evaluating options, they looked for a modular, ready‑to‑use solution.

Build an in-house tool would require several weeks and future maintenance
Stitching separate components (uploader, image editor, gallery) added complexity
Needed a React uploader with gallery and image editor for ad creation
Required a tagging-enabled upload module for the back office in pure JS

The solution

Filerobot, a headless DAM with media optimization, offered a modular, ready‑to‑use approach. Using the Media Asset Widget, Gocar gained a comprehensive uploader, gallery, and image editor that saved several weeks of development time. The widget was integrated quickly across two apps-one in React, one in pure JS-while keeping a clean, easy‑to‑use interface for end users.

Integration completed in half a day across React and pure JS apps
Modular widget customizable for different use cases
Clean, easy-to-use interface for end users
Access via API with clear documentation and numerous configuration parameters

The result

The team integrated the widget in just half a day on two web applications, saving several weeks of development and QA. Modularity allowed them to tailor the widget to specific flows, while the clean UI improved the contributor experience. Uploads became easier and more efficient thanks to the distributed ingestion infrastructure (“reverse CDN”). Pre‑upload resizing accelerated uploads and reduced storage, and the integrated image editor enabled quick on‑the‑fly edits. The solution scales with optional modules, such as capturing images directly via a smartphone camera on the mobile version.

0.5-day integration across two applications, saving weeks of development
Faster, easier uploads via distributed ingestion (“reverse CDN”)
Pre-upload resizing reduces storage footprint and speeds uploads
Integrated editor and optional modules (e.g., smartphone camera capture) support scale
